LifeLock Gets Community Service Award

| May 11, 2012

In the spirit of people helping people, Communitas Awards recognized LifeLock as their 2012 winner in Community Partnership.  Since October 2008, LifeLock has been partnered with the nonprofit FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association (FBI-LEEDA) to present educational programs about identity theft across the United States.

These free programs are designed to help educate local law enforcement officials in the US about identity theft. The training includes the latest trends that identity thieves are using, and more importantly, any new techniques to catch them.

Identity theft issues covered in the training are:

  • Identity theft laws
  • New technologies
  • Awareness and protection strategies
  • Investigative techniques,
  • Databases to assist in identity theft investigations
  • Victim’s assistance

LifeLock has specialized in id theft since it’s start in 2005. The company now gives back their knowledge to communities so that others can help victims recover and to stop the thieves in their tracks. This is the sort of training that all law enforcement needs to know because it’s a relatively new crime on the scene.

If you are a member of LifeLock, it’s sure nice to know that you’re associated with a company that cares about all of us as a community. Besides these programs, their ads aren’t just designed to get you as a member, they are also meant as a way to increase awareness of identity theft which has been the top consumer complaint to the FTC for years and continues to grow. The more we all know about how to protect ourselves the better off we’ll be.
